Volvo XC90 good for the school run
22 January 2009Used car drivers looking for the optimum vehicle that should be used on the school run have been told that by far the best vehicle they should own is the Volvo XC90.
Writing in The Times, Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson states that despite the vehicle generating 219 grams of CO2 per kilometre, it is still top of the tree.
This is because it can carry six passengers as well as the driver and if he was forced to downgrade the vehicle because of the emissions, he would need two vehicles to complete the run.
Therefore, even if he owned two Minis, which are at the forefront of reducing CO2 emissions, he would be producing 256 g/km of CO2 emissions, as well as creating extra congestion.
Thus, he said: "This means the XC90 is actually good for the environment and we should all have one immediately."
Other truths about the Volvo XC90 are that it has a top speed of 121 miles per hour and has a 2.4-litre, five-cylinder engine.
