Volvo has announced the green credentials of its C30 1.6D DRIVe with Start/Stop have been improved.

Drivers who swear by new and used Volvo models may find the latest offering from the manufacturer can help them boost their green credentials.

The C30 1.6D DRIVe with Start/Stop technology has been redesigned to that its now boasts CO2 emissions of under 100 g/km.

As a result, people purchasing the auto will be exempt from paying vehicle excise duty.

Volvo explained it had been important to the company for it to produce a car with sub-100 g/km emissions.

It revealed it spent a lot of time and effort trying to achieve this goal.

Spokesman Peter Ewerstrand said: "We've left absolutely no stone unturned in our determination to reach this target and it's wonderful that we have succeeded."

The car also boasts combined-cycle fuel efficiency of 74.3 mpg.

Meanwhile, drivers who prioritise good protective features when buying an auto may want to consider a used XC60.

The model is equipped with City Safety technology - designed to help the person at the wheel avoid low-speed crashes.
