Volvo posts 40 percent corporate sales growth

Volvo UK has posted more than 40% growth in corporate sales during the first six months of the year as companies begin to return to the automotive market

Volvo UK has posted more than 40% growth in corporate sales during the first six months of the year as companies begin to return to the automotive market to replace cars on extended company vehicle contracts.

Drivers of company cars can now take advantage of the improved fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions, which lead to reduced 'Benefit in Kind'. In 2006, the 2.0D was the lowest CO2 model of the Volvo V50, which emitted 154g/km of CO and offered 48.7mpg fuel consumption. Today, the lowest CO2 emission Volvo V50 model is the 1.6D DRIVe Start/Stop variant, which is capable of up to 72.4mpg and emits only 104g/km of CO2. This shows how far engine technology has evolved over the past four years and demonstrates the apparent benefit of getting drivers into a new vehicle.

A 40% tax payer driving a Volvo V50 1.6D DRIVe 2011 model with Start/Stop system can see improvement in fuel consumption of 23.7mpg and can save up to £27 a month in lower 'Benefit in Kind' tax bills.

"Engine technology has been developed dramatically since a typical lease car was registered in 2006", said Selwyn Cooper, National Corporate Operations Manager of Volvo Car UK.

"We've seen a significant increase in orders during the last 6 months, with many fleets enquiring about getting their drivers into new cars with lower CO2 emissions and better fuel consumption", he added.

On the back of the strong performance and with the launch of the all-new Volvo V60 and Volvo S60, the carmaker eyed to extend its 23 Business Centre networks to 25 by the end of the year.

Volvo Business Centre dealers sell over 200 corporate cars every year, although few of them sell more than 500 units. Mr Cooper is also eager to support the non-business centre dealers to manage local corporate business in a knowledgeable and professional way.
