Volvos sell more in 2009 than 2008
04 December 2009
Volvos car sales have gone above and beyond that of 2008.
More people, including used car drivers, opted for a Volvo when making a new auto purchase than they did last year, it has been announced. The sales rates provided by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders of this year and 2008 were compared by the manufacturer.
It noted that not only were year-on-year sales higher, but that they were better than they had been for the last 19 years.
Peter Rask, managing director of the UK division, noted the way in which the scrappage scheme had contributed to the success.
In addition, the popularity of models such as the Volvo C30 SportsCoupe and the XC90 seven-seater SUV were cited as autos that had boosted the figures.
Meanwhile, a statement from the company said: "This achievement underlines the appeal of the Volvo brand, particularly the new, environmentally conscious DRIVe range, in these challenging times."
Mr Rask went on to say that future motors to be released by the company could be worth keeping an eye out for, including the new C30 and C70.
The prices, recently announced by the carmaker, stand at £14,495 and £25,995 respectively. But used car fans may prefer to see the costs come down when they enter the second-hand car market.
