VW Polos engine is a cracker

16 October 2009

Richard Hammond has described the engine in the new Volkswagen Polo as "a cracker".

Motorists who always opt for either new or used Volkswagen models may decide to take the latest addition to the manufacturer's range for a test drive after hearing the comments of TV personality.

In an article for the Mirror, Richard Hammond described the engine of the updated Polo as "really rather a cracker".

The Top Gear host took the Moda edition of the auto for a spin - which is the second cheapest version of the five-door vehicle.

He suggested this particular variation of the car is probably aimed at younger drivers - as it comes with fog lamps, smart alloys and rear privacy glass as standard.

Other than this, Hammond stated the auto has just the basic equipment.

He pointed out the car has a three-cylinder, 1.2-litre engine that offers a modest 60 bhp but - despite its size - he claimed the unit is quite impressive.

First UK deliveries of the new Volkswagen Polo are scheduled for today (October 16th).
