White Civic has LSD benefit

The Honda Civic Type R is to be available in a Champagne White edition.

Buyers of the latest Championship White edition of the Honda Civic Type R will benefit from the limited-slip differential (LSD) that is being increasingly used on hatchbacks these days, according to a review.

Writing for Top Gear magazine, Piers Ward states that the LSD is only available on the Championship White offering of the Civic, with the purpose limiting the amount of slip a motorist gets when he accelerates hard.

According to Mr Ward, this means that "both wheels pull together truer".

He added that the differential is also set to be included on other new cars in the near future, such as the next Ford Focus RS and on the Civic it has made a few moderate changes.

The vehicle as a whole is said to be slightly pointier, while the steering feels a little sharper.

Also, when trialled around Silverstone racetrack in wet conditions, Mr Ward found that as a whole the vehicle felt more balanced, while overall the car felt more poised.

A review of the Honda Civic R by Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson in The Times stated the vehicle looked "fantastic".
