Up to 6,000 used Toyota Priuses will have accelerator pedals fixed each day.
Up to 6,000 used Toyota Priuses could be repaired each day as the company implements a fix to the accelerator pedal.Toyota technicians across 206 service centres have received specific training to cope with the accelerator pedal recall that affects 180,865 used Toyotas in the UK.
Service centres should be able to complete the repair in just 30 minutes and are also equipped with software to update the Prius brake system.
With 100,000 accelerator pedal repair parts expected in the UK by Friday, Toyota believes its repair programme will ensure all vehicles are fixed.
Steve Seattle, Toyota GB customer services director, said: "With the assistance of the DVLA and the commitment of all our centres, we have been able to launch a repair programme that is thorough, efficient and effective."
The recall was issued on Friday February 5th, when Toyota indicated it had not received any reports of accidents caused by the issue in Europe.
