XC60 DRIVe is cutting costs for new and used Volkswagen drivers

Features of the Volkswagen XC60 DRIVe ensure that fuel consumption and costs are kept low, the manufacturer claims.

The reduced fuel consumption of the Volkswagen XC60 DRIVe has led to cost savings for professional new and used car drivers.

According to the manufacturer, the consumption level of 159 g/km means that company motorists benefit from a lower tax band, which could benefit firms with large fleets.

The company said this boosts the vehicle's Benefit in Kind and Vehicle Excise Duty credentials.

Savings are further improved by the introduction of front-wheel drive and a new 2.4D engine, which contributed to a reduction in the auto's carbon emissions.

John Wallace, national corporate strategy and development manager at Volvo Car UK, said when the concept for the car was initially tabled, many commentators did not believe there was a large fleet market for the motor.

However, he said this has now changed.

"No other car offers this combination of equipment, dynamic looks, safety and environmental prowess, at the same time offering great fuel economy and lower CO2 figures," he commented.

Volkswagen has made further developments in the green car industry in the launch of the new Golf BlueMotion, which the company claims is the most eco-friendly Golf yet.
