Top 11 Questions about the October Tax Disc Cull Answered

What happens when I sell my car?

What happens when I sell my car?

Ahh-hah! This is a biggie - the process of selling your car will change from October 1st. Now, remaining car tax will not transfer to the new owner of the vehicle. Instead, the seller will be able to apply for a car tax refund on any tax remaining on the vehicle. The buyer will have to re-tax the car. The refund process will be automatic, and sellers will receive it once the DVLA receives notification of sale.
