5 Road Holders that Corner like they're on Rails

Mazda MX-5

Mazda MX-5

We end our list here today with a rear-wheel drive sports car that is the most affordable way to break in to the RWD market. Ever since it was launched in 1989, the car has been popular among drivers and the motoring press, and it is acclaimed for its precise handling and personality. The current version is undoubtedly the best, however, although older models do present a remarkable bargain.

If you're looking to buy a new or slightly used MX-5, we recommend you opt for the more potent 2.0-litre engine version, which has enough power for you to exploit the cars fabulous chassis and at least pin you in to the back of your seat under hard acceleration. With 167 bhp and 140 lb /ft, the MX-5 is no drag racing star, but show it a country road or a track and it will quickly become clear what this car is all about; handling and driving involvement. Despite being cheaper than many ill-handling turbocharged hatchbacks, young drivers overlook the MX-5. This is a shame, because they'd get more fun out of the Mazda.
