2014 Dodge SRT Charger Hellcat
Older cars might have more charm and prestige but none have more power or outright performance than the 2014 Dodge SRT Charger Hellcat.
The Dodge SRT Charger Hellcat is a 6.2-litre, 707 bhp, 560 lb /ft, HEMI V8-totting muscle car that grabbed the motoring world by storm after its release this year. All of that power makes for some truly astonishing performance figures; 0 - 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, 0 - 100 mph in under 9 seconds, a top speed of 204 mph... if that doesn't sound too impressive, consider that this car is in regular form driven by taxi drivers and policemen, not to mention families.
But what makes the Dodge SRT Charger Hellcat great is that it can handle the power. To keep it cool, there's an enormous state-of-the-art radiator and a Viper-esque bonnet with scoop, to keep it on the road there's fat and sticky Pirelli tyres, and to stop the car there's HUGE brakes. All of the cars power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and like the Challenger, there's two key fobs; red and black, with red accessing 707 bhp and black 500 bhp.
Considering this car is a four-door family saloon, it really shifts. It's got more power than a C63, M5, E63, RS7, plus many more super-expensive machines.
"This is a car most brands would never bring to market," Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said of the SRT Charger Hellcat. "This is a car that you absolutely cannot build a business case for. But sometimes, you need to stop listening to the focus groups. Sometimes you need to build a car that defines itself."
Amen to that.
